*please note time change in respect of the solidarity rally in memory with Robert Dziekanski, killed by RCMP brutality at the Vancouver International Airport on October 14th, 2007. The Robert Dziekanski rally is from 12-3pm on the Georgia St side of the Art Gallery. MAWO is encouraging people to attend in support and solidarity.

President George Bush and the neo-cons in the US government are banging louder and louder the drums of war against the people of Iran. The recent tightening of sanctions against Iran, the announcement of the state army in Iran as a terrorist organization, the allocation of more and more money for destabilization from within the country and heating up the rhetoric against Iran - all establishes the vicious and criminal war drive against the people of Iran.

At the same time, the more than 6-year Canada/NATO war and occupation of Afghanistan is sinking deeper into crisis. Last Saturday's deaths of two Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan brings Canada's death toll up to 73. And what do the Afghan people face? They suffer the brutality of the Canadian war drive, with over 5,000 Afghan deaths since only the beginning of this year. And after 4.5 years of occupation and destruction in Iraq, Iraqi people are faced with increasingly deteriorating conditions of life and daily attacks by occupation forces and their private mercenaries. As Afghan and Iraqi people resist the occupation of their countries along with oppressed people around the world, join with people on the streets of Vancouver to demand an end to the new era war and occupation!
