As the new era of war and occupation rages across the Middle East, US 
imperialism also has countries in Latin America in its sights for more 
exploitation and threats of intervention and invasion, including Cuba, 
Venezuela and Bolivia. In particular, Cuba has been fighting against a 
brutal official, and unofficial, policy of attack and blockade by the United 
States for the last 46 years. Why does the US continue to attack Cuba? What 
is the significance of the Cuban people’s long-standing resistance in the 
context of today’s era of imperialist war and occupation? What can we learn 
from Cuba in our work here to build a broad, united, effective movement to 
end imperialist war and occupation?

Join us this week for a special presentation as we discuss Cuba’s role in 
the struggle against imperialist war, occupation and the struggle for a 
better world.

a future direct military attack on Iran. Why is Iran so important to US, EU 
and imperialist interests in the Middle East? What is at stake with an 
expansion of war and occupation to Iran? Join us to discuss these and more 
questions as well as what people in Vancouver can do against attack on the 
people of Iran. Co-organized by the Iranian Committee Against War.

In the case that the US starts bombing and marching in Iran, come to the US

Since the US-backed Ethiopian invasion of Somalia in December 2006, more 
than 400,000 Somali people have fled the capital of Mogadishu due to the 
battle against occupying forces and the new ‘transitional government’ while 
in the UN, imperialist countries continue to build their case for 
intervention in Sudan. MAWO’s petition campaigns for “All Foreign Troops Out 
of Somalia!” and “No to Invasion of Sudan!” have collected more than 2,000 
signatures from people in the Lower Mainland since being launched in January 
2007. Join us as we continue the campaign against expansion of war and 
occupation into Africa and take this educational petition campaign to the 
streets on June 2nd. Contact MAWO to get involved!
