Canada’s Occupation of Afghanistan
and Parliament’s Decision to Extend the Mission beyond
2009:
What is the significance of the decision?
How should the anti-war movement respond?
What various political parties Conservative, Liberal,
Party Québécois and NDP position were and what is the
alternative?

On Tuesday, April 24, a resolution proposed by the
Liberal Opposition to block the Conservative
government from extending Canada’s occupation of
Afghanistan beyond 2009 was defeated by a vote of 150
to 134. Join us at MAWO’s Education class this week as
we discuss the significance of this decision, what
ruling class alternative is for Afghanistan, and how
it relates the anti-war movement in Canada.
