MAWO - Mobilization Against War & Occupation
~~~>>BI-WEEKLY EDUCATIONAL CLASS – “Organizing in the Era of War &
Occupation”
FOCUS
The Opening of the Era of War & Occupation into Africa via Sudan & Somalia
THIS WEEK *Special Session on the Rwanda Genocide: the Legacy of Colonial
Powers in Africa*
---------------------------
Wednesday February 14, 2006
@ 6:30pm
Britannia Community Center
(on Commercial Drive at Napier St – address: 1661 Napier St)
---------------------------
This week’s MAWO educational class will feature a special presentation and
in-depth discussion on the legacy of colonial powers in Africa. As a
background to understanding today’s threats toward Sudan and the recent
US-backed Ethiopian invasion of Somalia, we will examine the case of the
1994 genocide in Rwanda. Who really planned and carried out this genocide
and knew before it happened? What was the UN’s role? What is the track
record in Africa of today’s self-proclaimed ‘benevolent’ saviours for
Sudanese people? For further reading check out the MAWO Newsletter #14
Article on the Rwanda genocide at
http://www.mawovancouver.org/mawonewsletter14.pdf
MAWO is also organizing an ongoing series of forums, petition drives and
protest rallies calling for “US/UN Hands Off Africa”
Next forum: this Friday February 16th 6:00pm at the Britannia Community
Center.
MAWO NEWS:
Since the launch of the MAWO Sudan/Somalia campaign just 3 weeks ago, MAWO
calling for "US/UK Out of Iraq!" "Canada Out of Afghanistan!" and "US/UN
Hands Off Darfur/Sudan!" "All Foreign Troops Out of Somalia!"
