With two full days of over 20 films ranging from
Canadian premieres of antiwar feature films and new
documentaries to independent films and Cuban
classics, the Mobilization Against War & Occupation
(MAWO) 5th Annual Antiwar Film Festival is not to be
missed!
The theme of this year’s festival “The Battle of
Ideas” is inspired by the struggle of ideas that is
gripping the world we live in today. On one side are
the ideas and policy of war, profiteering and plunder
waged by the US, UK and Canada against oppressed
people in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and
across the world. On the other side of this battle
are the ideas of working people, students, women,
immigrants, refugees and people of the 3rd world
fighting back against destruction, war and
exploitation with the knowledge that a better world
is possible – and that we can achieve it! The annual
antiwar film festival is a cultural reflection of
this struggle shown through the medium of film.
