TODAY: Iranians and other Vancouverites Protest at US Consulate to Demand
NO WAR ON IRAN!

Iranian community members and many other Vancouver residents are
expressing their concern and opposition against a US attack and
intervention on Iran at a protest today at the US Consulate. The
picket will take place from 4pm-5pm and speakers at the picket include
members of the Iranian community and members of peace and antiwar
groups in Vancouver. The protest is organized jointly by the Iranian
Committee Against War and the Vancouver antiwar coalition Mobilization
Against War & Occupation (MAWO).

The accusation that Iran is developing nuclear weapons has been used
by the US for years to label Iran as a 'terrorist threat' and part of
an 'axis of evil' that should be internationally sanctioned, isolated
and potentially militarily invaded. The Iranian government has never
accepted this allegation of developing nuclear weapons and has never
claimed to be doing so. Now, a US National Intelligence Estimate (NIE)
report released last week stated that, from their information, Iran
stopped any nuclear weapons research or work 4 years ago. However, US
President George Bush has responded by saying that "all options"
against Iran are still open and Iran remains "a danger to the world".

 "George Bush and the US government have recently tightened economic
sanctions against Iran, continued threats against Iran and labeled the
state army of Iran as a terrorist organization. This is very
threatening and dangerous for the Iranian people." said Iranian
Committee Against War organizer Ali Yerevani. "The US has already
killed more than 1million people in Iraq; tens of thousands are dead
because of the occupation of Afghanistan; what murderous toll will
they take against the Iranian people when they carry out their vicious
plan of attack?"

"Even the US' own spy agencies are stating that this justification for
attack on Iran doesn't exist. The US government is showing it is still
desperate to invade and go to war against Iran no matter what. This
attack will bring a terrible destruction and come with a horrible cost
to human life in Iran and the whole Middle East region. Any further
attack in the Middle East and Iran must be opposed, protested and
stopped." continued Yerevani.

This picket is part of a worldwide protest and campaign by Iranians
inside and outside of Iran with all peace-loving people in many
countries around the world who are working to stop the US' aggression,
intervention and attacks on the people of Iran.
