As the 5th annual antiwar film festival draws near
with just over a week to go, Mobilization Against War
and Occupation sets the stage with a pre-screening
of what is to come in this years festival themed “The
Battle of Ideas.”

Sunday’s pre-screening features the new film, “The
War on Democracy.” Award winning journalist John
Pilger examines the role of America's manipulation of
Latin American politics during the last 50 years, as
well as the emerging struggles by millions of Latin
Americans to free themselves from foreign domination.

The focal point of the movie is Pilger’s travels in
Venezuela, where he sees the ‘Bolivarian Revolution”
in full swing and interviews President Hugo Chavez.
Using Chile and Bolivia as case studies, he also
utilizes archival footage, interviews with ex-CIA
agents, and direct testimony to construct the brutal
history of US interventions against social progress
in Latin-America. However, by documenting the new
movements in these countries, the film is very clear,
“Latin-America is on the Move!” and making new
victories in the Battle of Ideas.

Don’t miss this amazing evening of film, food and a
raffle including prizes generously donated by this
year’s festival sponsors!
