Since the call for an emergency Canada-wide day of
action against Canada’s occupation of Afghanistan was
issued on Wednesday May 24th, mass anti-occupation
demonstrations and riots have erupted in the formerly
“quiet” capital Kabul – the “Saigon” / or “greenzone”
of Afghanistan. US and Canadian airstrikes and raids
on villages have continued to kill tens of Afghan
people in single days. 

And on Monday May 29th, five Canadian soldiers were
seriously injured in a roadside bombing in Southern
Afghanistan. Also on Monday the 29th – at the same
time that US soldiers were firing into a crowd of
unarmed demonstrators in Kabul “in self-defense”,
Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay stood
in the Senate's standing committee on national defence
and said that Canada’s combat mission in Southern
Afghanistan could go well beyond the two year
extension voted on in Parliament on May 17th. He said,
"You cannot predict with any great degree of accuracy
what the end date is. We have started a job and we
will finish it."

The response of peace loving people, social justice,
peace and anti-war groups in Canada is to oppose this
war drive and demand: Canada out of Afghanistan now! 

This will be the demand heard throughout Canada on
June 1st in the first Canada-wide day of action
against Canada’s occupation of Afghanistan.

***AGAINST CANADA’S OCCUPATION OF AFGHANISTAN***

An appeal to all peace loving people, social justice,
and peace groups in Canada regarding Canada’s
occupation of Afghanistan:

Since the Parliament of Canada voted on May 17 to
extend Canada’s mission in Afghanistan by two years,
until 2009, three hundred people have been killed in
Afghanistan. The vote in Parliament was not for an
extension of mandate. It was a license to kill. 

It’s not only the US that is destroying and killing in
Iraq. Afghanistan is Canada’s Iraq. 

This is the time for action –
This is the time to make change – 
This is an appeal to all peace loving, all humanity
loving people in Canada – 

Canada has achieved what in Afghanistan?
“Reconstruction” has failed. “Building democracy” is a
lie. Canada’s occupation of Afghanistan has meant only
death, destruction, and bloodshed. This is a criminal
occupation.

Today, on Wednesday, May 24, the US military said “The
Taliban have gained strength and influence in certain
parts of Kandahar [and southern Afghanistan]”.
Canada’s occupation forces in Southern Afghanistan
have not brought “stability” – their savage occupation
is uniting Afghan people against them. This is a
criminal occupation. 

Canada is in Southern Afghanistan to fight against an
anti-occupation resistance that is growing in
strength, size, and popularity because of the
occupation. The role of the Canadian occupation forces
has been – and has to be – in the words of General
Rick Hillier on July 14th 2005, “to kill people” to
maintain the occupation. This is a criminal
occupation.

Canada is not “helping people” in Afghanistan. This
occupation is part of Canada’s imperialist drive for
its share of the US’s plunder of the world. Tens of
lives of young Canadian soldiers have been sacrificed
to this war machine. This is a criminal occupation. 

Canada’s occupation of Afghanistan has cost tens of
thousands of Afghan lives, 17 Canadian military lives,
and $4.1 billion dollars so far. Are our tax dollars
blood money? Who is investing in Afghanistan? For
what? This is a criminal occupation.	

This is the time for action –
This is the time to make change – 
This is an appeal to all peace loving, all humanity
loving people, and all social justice, and peace
groups in Canada to take action against the occupation
of Afghanistan. 
 
We have the power to make change. In Vancouver,
Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) has
collected over 10,000 signatures against the Canadian
occupation of Afghanistan in the Lower Mainland area
alone. If 10,000 is possible in the Lower Mainland, a
million is possible across Canada. 

On Thursday, May 25, MAWO will be organizing our
thirteenth picket action at the Canadian Forces
Recruitment Centre in Vancouver against the occupation
since July 2005. MAWO will be organizing our
fourteenth picket on Thursday, June 1st – but
Vancouver is not enough. Peace-loving, humanity-loving
people must take action everywhere in Canada.

This is an appeal to all peace-loving, humanity-loving
people and organizations in Canada for a Canada-wide
day of action on Thursday, June 1st. On this day,
people in every province, territory, city, and town in
Canada can gather together at recruitment centres,
armouries, government offices, and every other symbol
of the criminal Canadian war drive to demand “Canada
Out of Afghanistan!” 

We are appealing to you to take action across Canada
on June 1st to build an effective opposition to the
government’s savage war drive and criminal occupation
in Afghanistan. June 1st will be a beginning of a
distinctly Canadian anti-war movement to confront and
turn back the distinctly Canadian war drive that is in
full swing today in Afghanistan. 
All out for the June 1st Canada-wide day of action
against Canada’s occupation of Afghanistan!

HAGAMOS DEL 1 DE JUNIO UN DIA DE ACCION ATRAVES CANADA
EN CONTRA DE LA OCUPACION CANADIENSE EN AFGHANISTAN!

Este es un llamado a todos los amantes de la paz,
justicia social, y grupos pacifistas en Canada en
relacion a la ocupacion Canadiense en Afghanistan.

Desde el 17 de mayo, cuando el Parlamento de Canada
voto en favor de la extension de la mision Canadiense
en Afghanistan hasta el 2009, 300 personas han sido
asesinadas en Afghanistan. La votacion que el
Parlamento sostuvo no fue en favor de la extension del
mandato. Fue en favor de la licencia para matar.

Ee.Uu. no es el unico que destruye y asesina en Irak.
Afghanistan es el Irak Canadiense.
Este es el momento de actuar -
Este es el momento de hacer el cambio -
Este es un llamado a todos las personas amantes de la
paz y de la humanidad en Canada –

Que es lo que Canada ha logrado en Afghanistan? La
“Reconstruccion” ha fallado. La “Creacion democratica”
es una falacia. Lo unico que la ocupacion Canadiense
ha significado en Afghanistan es muerte, destruccion,
y derramamiento de sangre. Esta es una ocupacion
criminal.

Hoy miercoles 24 de mayo, el ejercito Estado Unidense
declaro que “Los Talibanes han reunido fuerzas e
influencias en ciertas regiones de Kandahar [y el
sureste Afghano]”. La ocupacion de fuerzas Canadienses
en el Sur de Afghanistan no han traido “estabilidad” –
su salvaje ocupacion  esta uniendo al pueblo Afghano
en contra de dicha ocupacion. Esta es una ocupacion
criminal.

Canada se encuentra en dicha region  para reprimir
cualquier resistencia anti-ocupacionaria que este
tomando fuerza, adeptos, y popularidad. El papel de
las fuerzas de ocupacion Canadienses han y seguiran
siendo – segun el General Rick Hillier [14 de Julio
del 2005], el de “matar gente” para continuar con la
ocupacion. Esta es una ocupacion criminal.

Canada no esta “ayudando a la gente” de Afghanistan.
Esta ocupacion es parte del movimiento imperialista
Canadiense por su tajada de la conquista
EstadoUnidense sobre los recursos naturales del mundo.
Decenas de vidas de jovenes soldados Canadienses han
sido sacrificadas en favor de esta maquinaria de
guerra. Esta es una ocupacion criminal.

La ocupacion Canadiense de Afghanistan ha cobrado
decenas de miles de vidas Afghanas, 17 bajas de el
ejercito Canadienses y  $4 mil millones de dolares
hasta ahora. Estan nuestros impuestos banados en
sangre? Quien esta invertiendo en Afghanistan? Para
que? Esta es una ocupacion criminal.

Este es el momento de actuar -
Este es el momento de hacer el cambio -
Este es un llamado a todos las personas en Canada
amantes de la paz, amantes de la humanidad, a la
justicia social, y a grupos pacifistas para tomar
accion en contra de la ocupacion de Afghanistan.

El poder del cambio esta dentro de nosotros. La
organizacion con base en Vancouver, Mobilizacion en
Contra de la Guerra y Ocupacion (MAWO) ha recolectado
alrededor de 10,000 firmas en contra de la ocupacion
Canadiense en Afghanistan, en el area del Lower
Mainland; estimamos que alrededor de un millon de
firmas se pueden juntar atraves de todo Canada.

En Vancouver, el Jueves 25 de Mayo, MAWO estara
organizando su treceaba accion de protesta en contra
de la ocupacion  desde Julio 2005 enfrente del Centro
de Reclutamiento de las Fuerzas Canadienses. Y el 
Jueves 1º de Junio MAWO organizara la catorceaba
accion de protesta – pero Vancouver no es suficiente.
Los Amantes de la Paz, los Amantes de la Humanidad de
todo Canada deben de actuar.

Este es un llamado a todas las personas y
organizaciones que estan en favor de la paz y de la
humanidad para un dia de accion atraves de todo Canada
el Jueves 1º de Junio. En este dia, personas de todas
las provincias, territorios, ciudades y poblados en
Canada pueden reunirse en los Centros de
Reclutamiento, Centros de Arsenales, Oficinas
Gubernamentales, y cualquier otro simbolo del moviento
criminal de guerra Canadiense para exigir “Canada
fuera de Afghanistan!” 

Les hacemos este llamado para que, atraves de todo
Canada, actuen este 1º de Junio para construir una
oposicion eficaz en contra del salvaje movimiento de
guerra y la ocupacion criminal de Afghanistan. El
primero de Junio sera el comienzo de una accion
Canadiense anti-guerra para confrontar y poner fin al
movimiento de guerra que esta siendo ejecutado en
Afghanistan hoy dia.

Salgamos todos el 1º de junio para el dia de accion
atraves Canada en contra de la ocupacion Canadiense de
Afghanistan!
