With virtually no notice to the public, the government of Canada has called 
for a 6-hour debate on Wednesday May 17 to vote to extend Canada’s 
occupation of Afghanistan by 2 more years, until 2009.

In 4 years of Canadian occupation of Afghanistan, conditions for Afghan 
people have only worsened, with the complete lack of basic services as well 
as the mounting death toll for Afghan civilians in the uncounted tens of 
thousands. The government of Canada is now seeking to extend this war and 
occupation for plunder until 2009 with the May 17 parliamentary vote. This 
is an attempt to sidestep the growing opposition to the occupation as more 
and more soldiers from Canada return home in body bags. More and more people 
in Canada are opposing this war drive and we must continue to protest and 
continue the call for an independent public inquiry into why Canada is 
occupying Afghanistan and why the government of Canada has never consulted 
people in Canada on this decision.

Join the MAWO picket action on May 18 and demand “Canada Out of Afghanistan 
NOW!” and "Call for an Independent Public Inquiry in the Canadian War Drive 
in Afghanistan!"
