Join us this week following the tremendous success of MAWO’s 2nd Annual 
Hip Hop Festival Against War & Occupation reaching more than 1500 people 
across the Lower Mainland over the course of 3 days with 6 free shows in 4 
different municipalities. This year’s festival also brought together over 
50 artists expressing opposition to war and occupation.

We will be meeting this week after the Emergency Picket Action MAWO is 
calling for Thursday from 2-3pm at the Canadian Armed Forces Recruitment 
Center (on Georgia St at Thurlow – 1077 Georgia St). The picket, MAWO’s 
16th in the last year, will protest Canada’s intensifying war drive in 
Afghanistan and support for Israel’s continued aggression and attack on 
Gaza and Lebanon. The rejection of Canada’s occupation by Afghan people is 
seen in the deaths of yet 2 more Canadian soldiers and the death of a 
Canadian aid worker in Afghanistan this week. Join us for the picket action 
as well as the organizing meeting later in the day.
