[antiwar-van] Call-out for May 20th demonstration: Hands Off Cuba & Venezuela!

Call for a Vancouver and B.C.-wide ad-hoc Coalition to
demand: Hands off Venezuela and Cuba!

Desperately bogged down in its war for Empire in Iraq,
the Bush administration is escalating its threats and
campaigns to undermine, subvert, provoke, and
overthrow the government of Venezuela, while
strengthening the economic blockade of Cuba,
tightening the travel ban to Cuba, and refusing to
extradite vicious anti-Cuba terrorist killers like
Luis Posada Carriles.

In the United States, an ad-hoc Hands Off Venezuela,
Hands Off Cuba Coalition of 40 organizations has been
formed. They chose Saturday May 20 as the day of march
and rally in Washington D.C.

In British Columbia we invite anti-war/anti-occupation
groups and organizations, peace groups, unions, Cuba
and Venezuela solidarity groups, Latin American and
third world groups, and all progressive organizations
throughout B.C. to come together and discuss building,
over the next two months to march in Vancouver on May
20th demanding: Hands off Venezuela and Cuba!

In this march and rally we will oppose U.S. aggression
against Venezuela and Cuba and defend the sovereignty
of both nations. The action will also demand that
Washington normalize relations with Havana, and
immediately release the five Cuban heroes and
revolutionaries held in U.S. prisons on frame-up
charges. 

The first organizing meeting for sponsors and
endorsers will be on Wednesday, April 19 at 6:30pm in
the “Learning Resource Room” of the Britannia
Community Centre (Napier St. and Commercial Dr, just
past the entrance to the Britannia Library).

Llamado por una comisión en Vancouver y BC para exigir
¡Manos fuera de Venezuela y Cuba!

El Imperio está empantanado desesperadamente en su
guerra en Irak, la administración de Bush está
incrementando sus amenazas y campañas para provocar,
minar, derribar e intentar derrocar al gobierno de
Venezuela, mientras que consolida el bloqueo económico
contra Cuba, dificultando los viajes a Cuba, y
negándose a extraditar rabiosos terroristas asesinos
anti-Cuba, como Luis Posada Carriles. 

En los Estados Unidos, se ha formado una comisión
llamada ‘’Manos fuera de Venezuela, Manos Fuera de
Cuba’’, conformada por 40 organizaciones. Ellos
eligieron el sábado, 20 de Mayo como el día para
reunirse y marchar en Washington DC. 

En BC, invitamos a grupos y organizaciones
anti-guerra, anti-ocupación, grupos por la paz,
sindicatos, grupos de solidaridad con cuba y
Venezuela, grupos latinoamericanos, grupos del tercer
mundo, todas las organizaciones progresistas a lo
largo de BC, a unirnos y discutir la construcción, en
los próximos meses, de la marcha en Vancouver, el día
20 de Mayo demandando: “¡Manos Fuera de Venezuela y
Cuba!”    

En esta marcha y reunión  vamos a oponernos la
agresión de EU contra Venezuela y Cuba y a defender la
soberanía de ambas naciones. La acción también
demandara que Washington normalice sus relaciones con
la Habana, e inmediatamente libere a los cinco Cubanos
héroes y revolucionarios encerrados en prisiones
estadounidenses con cargos falsos.

La primera reunión organizativa de los promotores será
el día miércoles 19 de abril a las 6:30 pm. en el
“Learning Resource Room” del  centro comunitario
Britania (en Napier St y Comercial Dr, junto a la
biblioteca)
