Activists slam troop presence

Vancouver peace campaigners are questioning Canada’s
role in Afghanistan and called this week for a public
inquiry into requests for more troops after three
soldiers were injured in a bomb blast near Kandahar.

Mobilization against War and Occupation co-chair
Shannon Bundock said the Oct. 5 attack on a military
convoy proved that the troops are not on a peaceful
mission, but rather in the centre of an armed
conflict.

Bundock concurred with comments made by Defence
Minister Bill Graham speaking before the attack, who
warned that the deployment of 250 Canadian troops to
Kandahar could boost the odds of Canadian soldiers
