BOXCAR 5 utilizes an intuitive and spontaneous approach to song writing,
revealing a variety of influences ranging from Tom Waits to The Pixies,
from The Beatles to Guns and Roses. The diverse musical backgrounds of the
band members results in an eclectic blend of folk, rock 'n' roll, blues,
jazz, punk and classical. Amos Ashurst guitar, vocals; Jaime Ashurst
vocals; Rob Linton drums; Jessica Werb cello; Kim Stewart bass, vocals.
RIME is a recently-opened, fantastic, one-of-a-kind performance space and
authentic Turkish eatery. ZULA Productions presents creative music of all
kinds at Rime on a nightly basis.
All proceeds go to No One is Illegal! (http://noii-van.resist.ca) A
grassroots group taking action and combating racial profiling,
deportations, detentions, security measures, border vigilantes like the
Minutemen, and law enforcement brutality in the context of the so called
War on Terrorism.
ALSO AVAILABLE WILL BE:
* 2006 Certain Days Freedom for Political Prisoners Calendar: A joint
fundraising and educational project between outside organisers in Montreal
and NYC, and 3 Political Prisoners being held in maximum-security prisons
in New York state. Proceeds from the Calender go to support the ongoing
work of Midwinter Harvest Program (Tyendinaga, Mohawk Territories), No One
is Illegal, NY State Task Force on Political Prisoners and All of Us or
None.
* Leftturn Magazine: For almost five years, Left Turn Magazine has
featured award-winning writings by activists and organizers from around
the world and on the frontlines of movements for justice. Left Turn has
received seven awards in three years from Project Censored for our
reporting on issues ignored by the mainstream media. The magazine has
received nominations for General Excellence in Magazines and International
Coverage from the 2004 Utne Independent Press Awards. The New York Review
of Magazines called it " a trade publication for a new generation of
activist," and this year Clamor Magazine voted it the Best Political
Magazine in the US. Proceeds will support the work of No One is Illegal.

The No One is Illegal campaign is in full confrontation with Canadian
colonial border policies, denouncing and taking action to combat racial
profiling of immigrants and refugees, detention and deportation policies,
and wage-slave conditions of migrant workers and non-status people.
We struggle for the right for our communities to maintain their
livelihoods and resist war, occupation and displacement, while building
alliances and supporting indigenous sisters and brothers also fighting
theft of land and displacement.
