Mayday 2005 Organizing Committee Meeting

Thursday March 31st

Last Thursday was the first meeting of the Mayday 2005 organizing committee. The meeting included people from labour, student and community organizations all come together under the common vision of organizing a major event for Mayday 2005. 

 

This group decided to organize a march and rally under the banner of celebrating Mayday, the international workers holiday. This Thursday March 31st this group will re-convene to discuss the specifics of the May 1st event and how to build it as a major celebration of the power of working people, in the tradition of Mayday internationally.

 

Just last year more than 10,000 working people gathered to celebrate Mayday and unite against the BC Liberal government in support of striking Hospital Employees Union workers. This year we have the opportunity to mobilize working people again – along with people all around the world – for this international celebration of the power of the working class when united in action for our rights.

 

All organizations and people interested in defending the rights and celebrating the power of working and poor people are invited to attend this meeting and contribute to this event.
