DEFEND PALESTINIAN SELF-DETERMINATION! 

 

Ya’acov Brosh is the Israeli Consul General to Western Canada, and as such is a representative and mouthpiece for the Israeli apartheid government and its brutal occupation of Palestine. He is speaking at SFU in support of Israeli colonialism and against the right of Palestinians to self-determination. 

 

Since and just before the founding of Israel in 1948, at least 750,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homes. As a result, millions of these Palestinians and their descendants live in refugee camps in terrible, inhuman and unsanitary conditions, with widespread hunger and poverty. 

 

In 1967, Zionist Israel invaded even more territory. Since then, Israel has begun construction of an apartheid wall in order to further finalize its grab of Palestinian land and resources. 

 

Today, the so-called “disengagement plan” proposed by Ya’acov Brosh and other parts of the Israeli government does not offer a solution for the Palestinian people living under the boot of the Israeli occupation. It removes settlements from the Gaza Strip (which include 7,500 Israeli settlers) in order to more fully seize other parts of Palestine, like the West Bank, with its over 400,000 Israeli settlers. Moreover, the Gaza Strip’s borders and airspace would remain under the control of the Israeli military forces. The Israeli military still reserves the right to invade the Gaza Strip whenever it feels it is appropriate. 



 

It is important that students, poor and working people mobilize and oppose Ya’acov Brosh’s Zionist lies and misinformation about the true nature of the racist state of Israel, at SFU and wherever else he speaks. We must organize to show our opposition to Israeli apartheid and show our support for the right of Palestinians to self-determination.
