Please pass this on to as many interested parties as you can. Thank you.
SHOW SUPPORT BY ATTENDING PUBLIC HEARING/ PUBLIC GATHERING
The family of Jeff Berg, who died in Vancouver police custody in October
2000, is asking the public to come out in full force to show their support
this Friday, January 21, 2005 at 10:30 am, Robson Square Provincial Court,
Room #108, 800 Hornby Street, Vancouver, BC.
If you have an interest in this case, have ever been abused by a police
officer, have experienced flaws or problems within the Vancouver Police
Department, or are simply a concerned citizen, now is the time to show
support. Please make an effort to attend, and bring as many other
like-minded people as possible. The judge will read orally his written
reasons for judgement, commencing at 10:30 am and likely concluding before
noon. Members of the media will be in attendance. If you cannot attend,
you can read at a later date the written reasons for judgement at
www.opcc.bc.ca (click on public hearings - Const. David Bruce-Thomas).
This ruling is significant because it relates to police accountability,
abuse of authority, the VPD internally investigating their own members,
use of force issues, obstruction of justice.....this affects every citizen
alike.
If you would like to read a copy of the closing submission that Julie Berg
presented orally to the adjudicator at the conclusion of the Public
Hearing, please click on www.justiceforjeff.com (it's located on the home
page).
Please show your support. Bring your voice....and a friend...and another
friend.
Thank you.
Julie Berg

The No One is Illegal campaign is in full confrontation with Canadian
colonial border policies, denouncing and taking action to combat racial
profiling of immigrants and refugees, detention and deportation policies,
and wage-slave conditions of migrant workers and non-status people.
We struggle for the right for our communities to maintain their
livelihoods and resist war, occupation and displacement, while building
alliances and supporting indigenous sisters and brothers also fighting
theft of land and displacement.
