Independent journalist Kevin Pina will be visiting Vancouver as part of a cross-Canada tour. This is a unique opportunity to get on-the-ground news and analysis about the situation in occupied Haiti. Kevin will also be travelling to Victoria, and will be meeting with trade unionists, students and others while in B.C.
The Canadian government and military played a key role in the coup against Jean-Bertrand Aristide, and continues to be a major player in the occupation and illegal regime change. Short Biography of Kevin Pina
Kevin Pina is a documentary filmmaker and independent journalist who has been documenting and covering the situation in Haiti for the past 13 years. He currently resides in Port-au Prince, Haiti where he has been writing and documenting the siuation on the ground for the past five years. Pina produced previous film entitled "Haiti: Harvest of Hope" and is currently completing a second documentary entitled "Haiti: The Betrayal of Democracy." In addition, Pina is an Associate Editor for The Black Commentator online magazine and the Haiti Special Correspondent for the Flashpoints radio program heard on KPFA in Berkeley, CA and KPFT in Houston, TX. He is also works the founder and editor the Haiti Information Project (HIP), an alternative news agency that is featured on the web site www.haitiaction.net.
