Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) meets EVERY Wednesday to organize actions and events against war and occupation in Vancouver and across the Lower Mainland.
In the coming two weeks MAWO is involved in organizing and building several actions against war and occupation, colonialism and toward building an effective anti war movement, including 3 forums on university and college campuses, 1 rally and march on the International Day of Action January 20th and 1 major community forum . For a full list of events on campuses and in different communities go to www.mawovancouver.org.
This week we will be discussing and coordinating our work for the International Day of Action on January 20th focused on the demands of "End the Occupation of Iraq!" and "Bring the Troops Home Now!". For this demonstration, we are also bringing anti war activist guest speakers Hazem Jamjoum of Al-Awda Toronto, Mostafa Henawi of Al-Awda Toronto & the Toronto June 30th Organizing Committee and Liisa Schofield from the Toronto June 30th Organizing Committee. We also have a forum with these speakers again on Saturday January 22 joined by Aaron Mercredi of MAWO and Redwire Native Youth Media Society. This week we will be expanding our work through connections with other anti war activists through education and action to share our experiences and make our organizing stronger locally.
