----------------------------------------------------------------
On Nov 28th, Mobilization Against War and Occupation
(MAWO) held the first of two picket lines in response
to last weeks death of Canadian soldier Pte. Braun
Scott Woodfield in Afghanistan.
It is clear that this death is only the beginning of a
trend that will be increasing. With 2000 more troops
being deployed by Feb 2006, the Canadian military, as
Minister Bill Graham himself has stated that
Afghanistan... will actually be more in the line of a
combat mission.
Given the impact of the latest developments, media
presence was high, with reporters from newspapers,
television and radio. Coverage followed on Monday and
Tuesday on Fairchild TV, 24hrs Newsapaper and Metro
Newspaper.
In the wake of Braun Woodfields death, Mobilization
Against War and Occupation continues its call for an
independent public inquiry into the Canadian
occupation of Afghanistan to open debate across Canada
about why billions of taxpayers dollars are being
pumped into the government of Canadas war drive.
MONDAY DECEMBER 5TH, 12NOON - 1PM, ANOTHER PICKET LINE
WILL BE HELD IN FRONT OF THE CANADIAN FORCES
RECRUITMENT CENTRE, TO DEMAND:
Independent Public Inquiry Now!
Canada Out of Afghanistan!
Bring the Troops Home!
