Stop the Deportation of Palestinian Refugees!

 

Vigil for International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

 

Monday, November 29th at 4 PM

November 29th marks the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. On this day, Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) will be holding a vigil in solidarity and defence of the hundreds of Palestinian refugees in Canada that are currently facing deportation. We are organizing this vigil in coordination and solidarity with the Coalition Against the Deportation of Refugees in Montreal and Toronto, who have called actions for November 29th against these deportations. 

 

For over fifty years, the Palestinian people have been subjected to the brutal occupation of their country by the Zionist settler-state of Israel. This has resulted in the forced displacement of millions of Palestinians from their homes, who now make up the largest refugee population in the world. The conditions of the refugee camps in which Palestinians are forced to live are among the worst in the world, and they will continue to face these brutal conditions so long as their right to self-determination is suppressed as a result of the Zionist occupation of their country.

 

Hundreds of Palestinians who have come to Canada as a result of Israel’s colonial wars have been denied refugee status by the Canadian government, and currently face deportation. This is mainly due to the Canadian government’s close ties to Israel, both as a trading partner and as a fellow colonial state, both of which were built through the killing and suppression of the indigenous people of those lands. To grant refugee status to every Palestinian fleeing the horrors of the occupation and refugee camps would mean acknowledging the true nature of Israel and its daily suppression of the Palestinian people.

 

Join us on November 29th as we stand together to demand an immediate end to the deportation of Palestinian refugees in Canada, and to demand that they be granted status on Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds. Join us as we stand in solidarity with Palestinian people as they fight for their self-determination and dignity, both at home and abroad.
