A forum on the dispossession of First Nations and
Indigenous Lands and the following responses of
resistance from communities and their allies.

Featuring:

Delbert Guerin from the Musqueam band who will speak
to the University of British Columbia's disposession
of  Musqueam land, such as the (currently attempted)
sale of the golf-course and the ongoing legal case
associated with it. Delbert will also give a real
history how UBC illegally expropriated a significant
portion of Musqueam’s territory and the ongoing denial
that UBC sits on unceded Musqueam land.
 
Art Manuel of the Secwepemc people and representative
of the Skwelkwek'welt Protection Centre, will address
the ongoing actions of resistance to the development
of the Sun Peaks Ski Resort and Delta Hotels on
unceded Secwepemc land at Skwelkwek’welt;

 
Sun Peaks is an expanding tourist village based on
land which the Secwepemc Eders have said no to any
expansion on. Yet in 1997 the BC government approved a
$70 million development plan, allowing Sun Peaks to
continue to expand their resort to 20,000 beds and put
ski runs on the previously undisturbed Mt.
Morrissey. In June 2001, Land and Water BC obtained a
court injunction to forcibly remove Secwepemc from
their lands.
