End the Occupation of Iraq! 

US/UK Out!

Emergency Protest Rally: 

Saturday November 20th - 3PM  - Vancouver Art Gallery 

 

In response to the recent, brutal and major military offensive against the Iraqi city Fallujah., Vancouver’s antiwar coalition, Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO)  has called a major emergency protest rally for Saturday November 20th, at 3pm at the Vancouver Art Gallery. MAWO is an antiwar coalition endorsed by over 50 labour, student, third-world and indigenous organizations. The rally is co-sponsored by the United Muslim Alliance, a broad organization uniting Muslims of all denominations.  

 

“On November 20th we will join together to condemn the US/UK occupation forces in Iraq and the destruction, death and chaos they are inflicting on the city of Fallujah.” Said MAWO Co-Chair Kira Koshelanyk.  

 

“This is the thirteenth demonstration that MAWO has held over the past year. In this time of urgency, the people of Vancouver are showing increasing strength and consistency in their opposition to illegal war and occupation.”

 

The people of Fallujah, and the people of Iraq, have been fighting occupation forces since March 19th 2003 – brutal attacks by US/UK forces have been met with expanding and strengthening resistance. Strikes, demonstrations, mobilization and armed resistance are smashing the hopes the US-led forces have to establish a stable occupation in Iraq.  

 

“Not only will MAWO condemn the offensive against Fallujah on November 20th, we will also demand the immediate withdrawal of all foreign troops from Iraq, Afghanistan and Haiti. We will echo the demand of the Iraqi, Afghan, Haitian, Palestinian and Indigenous nations of Canada for full sovereignty and self-determination,” said MAWO Organizer Kasia Machelak. 

 

MAWO is calling to action all people opposed to war, occupation and oppression both at home and abroad to take to the streets on November 20th at the Vancouver Art Gallery in solidarity with the Iraqi people, to “End the Occupation of Iraq! US/UK OUT! Bring the Troops Home NOW!” This Rally and March will feature Muslim, Middle Eastern, Latin American and Indigenous speakers.
