Next MAWO Organizing Meeting

@ the Britannia Community Center

(on Commercial Drive at Napier St)

ALL OUT AGAINST US ARMY SIEGE OF FALLUJA!

"Your job is to arrest the killers but if you kill them then let it be," Iyad Allawi (Interim Iraqi Prime Minister in Baghdad Monday November 8th, 2004 to a battalion of Iraqi soldiers about to go into Falluja)

"To hell they will go"

On Monday November 8th, US/UK occupation forces poised outside of the city of Falluja received the approval of interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi and attacked, descending on the Iraqi city in a fury of destruction, death and chaos. As the US gunships, tanks and war planes stormed into the city, known for its strong and effective resistance to the occupation, their bullets and bombs hit civilians homes and several hospitals. The bombing continued for over 10 hours.

"There is not a single surgeon in Falluja. We had one ambulance hit by US fire and a doctor wounded. There are scores of injured civilians in their homes whom we can't move."

-Sami al-Jumaili, a doctor at Falluja’s main hospital.

The most recent attack on Falluja and the people living and resisting within the city is not apart from the US/UK occupation forces entire strategy in dealing with the overwhelming number of Iraqis who are active against the occupation. This latest move shows the complete desperation of the occupation. While at least 500 "newly trained" Iraqi soldiers did not report for duty in the siege of Falluja, the US says it’s no big deal. The largest military power in the world is facing down the power of people united in Iraq and the US is losing this fight.

In Vancouver, Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) has been working for over a year to maintain consistent mobilization in solidarity with the struggling people of Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan, Haiti and Indigenous Nations in Canada. Now, at a time when the US is furthering the crisis they’re in in Iraq, of their own creation, the crisis is worse for the Iraqi people being shot, bombed and killed every day. It is our responsibility as anti war activists and also as human beings, to stand with the people of Falluja and mobilize in solidarity with them.

For anti war organizing in Vancouver, come to MAWO’s weekly anti war anti occupation organizing meeting.
