The Anti-Poverty Committee is calling a demonstration against the BC
Liberals and their Safe Street Act. Solicitor General Rich Coleman has
been invited by the Vancouver Board of Trade on behalf of the BC Institute
of Justice to speak on ‘The future of law enforcement in BC’

It is fitting that the Vancouver Board of Trade, who aggressively lobbied
for the Safe Street Act, invite Rich Coleman who was formerly in charge of
throwing tens-of-thousands of people off welfare. The Liberals are very
proud to be lap dogs to business. The public campaign to get the Safe
Streets bill passed was financed by big business and embraced by the
Liberals.

When government and their business partners meet to toast their
achievements in social cleansing, we should be there to ruin their power
lunches!

We will meet at 11:30 am in the front of Pan Pacific. We will then head up
to the registration and aggressively panhandle the people who are paying
one hundred dollars to attend. When the lunch ends at 1:30 we will meet
them coming out of their parking lot with squeegees in hand.

We will be encouraging delegates from the BC Fed convention to join us in
solidarity. Their function ends at 1pm. and we will set up an ‘information
squeegee’ for them out front of Pacific Place.

The No One is Illegal campaign is in full confrontation with Canadian
colonial border policies, denouncing and taking action to combat racial
profiling of immigrants and refugees, detention and deportation policies,
and wage-slave conditions of migrant workers and non-status people.

We struggle for the right for our communities to maintain their
livelihoods and resist war, occupation and displacement, while building
alliances and supporting indigenous sisters and brothers also fighting
theft of land and displacement.
