  The US-led bombings of Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as the heightened 
  assaults on the Palestinian  people by the state of Israel, marked the 
  beginning of a new period of imperialist war, occupation and destruction.

  The coming decades will involve more and more war and occupations abroad 
  and the slashing of immigrant and refugee rights at home, and a clamping 
  down on civil liberties.
