UPCOMING EVENTS:

** Rally against War and Occupation **
Saturday, March 20th 2004
12 - 3 PM
Vancouver Art Gallery

On March 20, 2004, protests will take place all
around the world on the one year anniversary of
the US-led bombing and invasion of Iraq. People
are organizing on a global scale to demand an end
to the occupation of Iraq and an immediate
withdrawal of U.S. military forces from the
country.

The need to for effective mass-based antiwar
movement in solidarity with the struggling people
of Iraq is just as important for this coming
March 20th as it was earlier this year before the
US-led bombing of Iraq began. With the US and its
junior partners facing dozens of attacks every
day from the Iraqi resistance, an inability to
impose any functional form of new government in
Iraq, and increasing pressure from people all
around the world against the occupation of Iraq,
there is a very real sense of the fact that these
warmongering killers are not invincible. The
heroic resistance in Iraq is the most important
battle being waged against US imperialism, and we
must mark the first anniversary of the US-led
bombing and invasion of Iraq by taking to the
streets with a strong show of force against the
occupation of Iraq.

In Vancouver, the newly-formed Mobilization
Against War and Occupation (MAWO) has endorsed
this call for action against war and occupation
for March 20th. We will be organizing a rally at
the Vancouver Art Gallery, which will go from
12-3 PM.

This is part of a number of different events
against war and occupation that Mobilization
Against War and Occupation is organizing in the
coming months. We have put together a plan of
action between now and March 20th to help build a
strong antiwar movement in the lower mainland,
and help see the strength, spirit, and numbers of
people opposed to war return to the streets.

** First Annual Vancouver Mini-Film Festival Against War **
Saturday, December 20th 2003

1 - 10 PM
Britania Community Centre

On Saturday December 20th, MAWO is holding a
first-annual mini-film festival against war. This
will be a great opportunity to strengthen the
antiwar movement in Vancouver by bringing people
together to come out and enjoy a number of
excellent movies that will be both educational
and entertaining. This mini-festival will feature a
variety of films related to war of different
genres, from documentaries to feature films.

** Rally Against War and Occupation **
Saturday, January 24th 2003

1 - 3 PM

Vancouver Art Gallery

MAWO will be holding a rally against war and
occupation on Saturday January 24th. This rally
will be at the Vancouver Art Gallery, from 1-3
PM. As the global situation develops and the
demand for frequent and dynamic mobilizations
increases MAWO stands committed to responding to
the resistance of the people of Iraq, Palestine
and Afghanistan as well as responding to the
movement in Vancouver, in Canada and
internationally.

** Conference Against War and Occupation **
Saturday, February 21st 2003

10 - 6 PM

 Britania Community Centre

MAWO is holding a conference against war and
occupation on February 21st. This conference will
be an opportunity to discuss and analyze the
current situation that the world is faced with: a
new era of increased war, occupation and
destruction as the various imperialist countries
seek to reverse the international economic crisis
they are facing. This conference will also be an
opportunity to reflect on the successes and
failures of the antiwar movement in the lower
mainland, and an opportunity to strategize for
the coming period, where the need for a strong
international antiwar movement will be crucial to
reversing the current escalation in attacks that
the US and other imperialist countries are waging
on poor, working, and oppressed people all around
the world.
