GERMAN MINISTER CRITICISES BUSH TACTICS

Several of the broadsheets have page one reports about remarks
attributed to Germany's justice minister, Herta Daubler-Gmelin,
telling a German regional newspaper that George Bush "wants to divert
attention from his domestic problems. It's a classic tactic. It's one
that Hitler used."

The White House said the remarks were "outrageous and inexplicable"
and the Telegraph said America's relationship with Germany had hit
new depths." Perhaps Mr Daubler-Gmelin was doing a bit of bizarre
campaigning ahead of Germany's general election on Sunday."
