Jews for a Just Peace is a group of Vancouver Jews that works to build support for a
fair and just solution to the Israeli Palestinian conflict. Our immediate goal is ending
Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. Since our
founding in 1988, we have undertaken various activities on our own and in coalition
with other groups to raise awareness of the situation in Israel/Palestine.

The situation in the Middle East continues to deteriorate with the ongoing denial of
Palestinian human rights, including such actions as demolition of Palestinian homes,
confiscation of land for the expansion of Jewish land, denial of water resources,
harassment at army checkpoints as well as attacks against civilians on both sides. In
the face of these horrors, there is an urgent need for continued struggle against the
Israeli occupation and for support for Jewish and Palestinian movements working for
peace and justice in the region.

Such organizing and support requires funding. Our coffers are bare. Here are some
examples of our activities during the past two years:

Working with other groups in sponsoring speakers from organizations in the Middle
East e.g. from Ta'ayush, a Jewish and Palestinian partnership; an Israeli "refusenik"
and the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions.

Support for organizations active in Palestine and Israel, such as Yesh Gvul (a support
organization for refuseniks), Gush Shalom (Israeli Peace Block), Rabbis for Human
Rights, Christian Peacemaker Teams, and the Union of Palestinian Medical Relief
Committees.

Distributing leaflets putting forth our point of view at rallies, demonstrations and
public meetings sponsored or co-sponsored by us and at public events such as Under
the Volcano.
