7:30 p.m. - THURS. JAN. 2ND. - IWA HALL: 2859 Commercial at 13th
Kingsway's January study session
will explore a sizzling local topic - the Olympics -
and an important international one - Free Trade and
the advance of anti-FTAA forces in Brazil
and other countries.
Marilyn Young will explore the details
behind the Olympic bid. We will look at
the new figures that are coming out
regarding the vast expenditures projected
and at the repercussions.
In the second half,
Derrick O'Keefe, Andrea Pinochet and
Cyrus Kashani will talk about the main issues
raised at the 13th Congress
of OCLAE, the Latin American and Caribbean Student
Organization, held Nov 29-Dec 2nd in
Guadalajara, Mexico:
- Opposition to the FTAA across the Americas
- The election of Lula from the Workers' Party in Brazil
- Hugo Chavez and the situation in Venezuela.
If you have expertise in any one of these topics,
we urge you to come out and share it with us.
