	Dear AICAP, 

	 There are 2.7 million children in America today with a mom or dad
behind bars. For these children, the consequences of their parents'
choices can be devastating. 
	 Will you join us in bringing light to the hardships faced by
children with a mom or dad behind bars? 

	Children with an incarcerated parent are some of our nation's most
at-risk boys and girls—they face higher rates of anxiety, major
depression, and attention disorders, and are 80 percent more likely to
live in a household that struggles to make ends meet. Often
stigmatized for their parents' crimes, children may grapple with
feelings of abandonment, shame, and low self-esteem.  

	Far too many of these children have been without guidance and support
to overcome such large obstacles in their young lives. But children of
prisoners are resilient, full of potential, and fearfully and
wonderfully made in God’s image. Though these young people affected
by incarceration face a host of risks, they also have tremendous
capacity for amazing futures.  

	Together we can empower children to connect with their parents, find
hope in Christ, and strive toward great goals—replacing the cycle of
crime with a cycle of renewal and hope. There are many children who

	Let’s continue to show children of prisoners that they are not
forgotten—they are loved and cherished by their parents, by God, and
by caring friends like you.

	 Join us in shining a light on the struggles faced by children with
an incarcerated parent.

caregivers with a loved one in jail or prison that they are not alone.
